 MISSION STATEMENT

             East Visayan Adventist Academy prepares students to live a life of usefulness, exemplify Christ in their lives, and show the world that God exists.
 
 
SCHOOL PHILOSOPHY
 
            East Visayan Adventist Academy recognizes God as the Creator and Sustainer of the entire universe, the Source of all true knowledge and wisdom.
            East Visayan Adventist Academy subscribes to quality Adventist Education - a Christ-centered education. Thos education is not limited to academic knowledge. Instead it endeavors to enhance an individual spiritually, intellectually, physically, and socially as outlined in the Bible and the writings of Ellen G. White, and in harmony with the mandate of the Philippine government.
            Adventist Education intends to develop in a person a life of total dependence on god, selfless service to mankind, and responsible citizen ship in this world and in the world to come.
 
 
GENERAL OBJECTIVES
 
A)    Spiritual Objectives
1.      To include in the students the awareness of God’s love and the value of personal devotion through private prayer and habitual reading of God’ Word and the Spirit of Prophecy books.
2.      To enlist students to actively participate in the worship and missionary activities in the school and in the community.
3.      To develop in students a Christ-like character.
 
B)    Intellectual Objectives
1.      To develop in the students the mastery of basic learning tools.
2.      To stimulate in the students aesthetic values and intellectual curiosity, create critical learning skills, linguistic and communicative proficiency.
3.      To provide students with a climate conducive to learning and experiences that will challenge and help them grow to be mature and responsible individuals.
 
C)    Social Objectives
1.      To help acquire social graces so as to foster good interpersonal relationships.
2.      To train them ti be responsible, honest, hardworking, efficient, nationalistic, courageous, and resolute citizens for God and for our country. To teach them to regard human life with respect, keeping in mind that people are to be treated equally and indiscriminately with dignity whether they be rich or poor, strangers or visitors.
 
D)    Health Objectives
1.      To help students exercise the principles of healthful living free from unwholesome influence of liquor, cigarettes, and drugs for man’s body is the temple of God.
2.      To make students understand that a balanced relationship exist between mind and body.
3.      To help students apply the principles of temperance, proper diet, exercise, rest and recreation, clean air , water, sunshine, and faith in God’s healing power in their daily lives.
 
E)     Vocational Objectives
1.      To instill in the students the habit of industry, thrift, the dignity of labor and the proper use of leisure.
2.      To help students to be effective and competent in their chosen vocation.
 
 
 
TEACHER- STUDENT RELATIONS
 
      In the teacher-student relation, the teacher serves as the model, the sharer and giver. The student is the receiver and the learner. The teacher cannot impart what he/she does not possess. The Christian teacher to be most effective must create an atmosphere that is conducive to a learning process. By this, the teacher must be creative and at the same time a contributor. The ideal Christian teacher should be what he/she wants his/her students to become. By precept and example, he/she should present a noble model, which the learner will appreciate and desire to acquire, especially in matters of moral values and faith. The teacher should reach down to the level of the students. He/she should inspire them to climb higher to the goal he/she would like them to reach. This is true in the academic as well as in the spiritual realms.
 
 
TERMINAL GOALS BY SUBJECT AREA
 
A)    Bible or Values Education
1.      Through Bible-based instruction and interact with God-fearing teachers inside as well as outside the classroom. The students learn to recognize and accept God as their Creator and Redeemer.
2.      They will learn how to approach God through prayer, personal meditation, the reading of God’s Word, and personal communion resulting in the proper relationship with God and their fellowmen.
3.      The students develop right attitude towards their teachers and classmates. They will gladly cooperate with their teachers and leaders to promote spiritual and social well-being in school.
4.      The students discover by personal experience how prayer and faith help one meet day-by-day personal problems.
 
B)     Communication Arts - English
1.      The students develop mastery and skills in the use of English Grammar in oral or written communication (Linguistic competence).
2.      They will be able to speak and write in English, being the major language of communication not only in our country but also in many countries of the world.
3.      The students develop appreciation and interest in literature being the basis of culture.
 
C)     Communication Arts – Filipino
1.      The students develop love, interest, and appreciation of the Filipino language, as well as to learn more of the nationalistic values of the country.
2.      The students will learn more of the Filipino language by the different activities using the language as the medium of communication.
3.      The students will develop the spirit of nationalism and loyalty to our country.
 
D)    Science
1.      The students will have a better understanding of God’s creative power through the study of His creation, and the laws and principles governing them.
2.      The students will be encouraged to develop scientific inquiry through observation, careful verification of data, analysis and logical conclusions.
3.      The students will realize that living things, including man, are dependent upon God for existence.
 
 
E)     Social Studies
1.      The students will understand that man is created as a social being with privileges, responsibilities and obligations to perform.
2.      The student will understand our economic system, our form of government, the differences and similarities of the people around the world, and that he must contribute his part for the welfare of the country and the world as a whole.
3.      The students will know that history is a fulfilled prophecy, and that citizenship training includes preparation for citizenship for the kingdom to come.
 
F)      Mathematics
1.      The students will learn the mastery of the four fundamentals of operation in order to meet daily problems with readiness.
2.      They will be made to recognize that all knowledge and skills come from God, to be used for His glory and service to their fellowmen.
3.       They will learn to apply mathematics to actual life situations.
 
G)    CAT-I, Pathfinder, and MAPEH
1.      Students should develop self-discipline, love of country, and be ready to render service when the need arises.
2.      Students must be healthy, alert, responsible citizens of the country.
3.      Students must recognize that a healthy body with a healthy mind must be physically active, doing vigorous physical activities, balanced with mental, social, and spiritual discipline.
4.      Students must learn the laws of healthful living, correct habit of eating, exercise, and the right attitude towards health principles.
 
H)    TEPP/TLE
               1.  Students shall learn the basics of Homemaking
               2.  Students shall be bale to apply budgeting on a daily basis.
               3.  Appreciate the value of entrepreneurship. 
               4.  Keep abreast with current technology
 
 

ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
 
           EAST VISAYAN ADVENTIST ACADEMY welcomes students who come for faithful work and study, and have the sincere desire to follow and cooperate with the rules and standards of the school. Each applicant for admission is required to:
  1. Fill out the regular Application Form. The Admissions Committee / Principal must approve each applicant.
  2. Present valid credentials, such as card (Form 138), certificate of good moral conduct from the school last attended and photocopy of NSO Authenticated Birth Certificate.
  3. Make satisfactory financial arrangement with the Business Office to include entrance fees, testing fees, tuition fees, dormitory fees, and other school fees.
 
           The school reserves the right to refuse admission of an applicant where school facilities are inadequate or the applicant’s previous records are not satisfactory.
      Students should register on specified registration dates before being allowed to attend classes. Students maybe admitted without credentials on temporary basis for a period of two weeks only. Students should endeavor to submit the needed credentials to be officially enrolled.
           All units or subjects for every curriculum year, including Bible subjects are considered full load for the average student. Students with back subjects should arrange with the Registrar for overload when needed. Additional payment is charged for overload subjects.
 
 
TEXTBOOKS
 
           Each student is required to secure his/her textbooks and workbooks. Textbooks and workbooks are available in the Business Office on cash basis.
 
 
STUDENT FINANCE
 
           It should be accepted by parents that any financial sacrifices for the sake of their children’s education should not be considered an expense. It is investment for their children’s future.
           The expenses in the Academy are made as reasonable as possible in order to place the opportunities if Adventist Education within the reach of our young people. Since the Academy’s main source of income are tuition fees, it is expected that parents who enroll their children should prepare to pay in cash the entrance, miscellaneous, and first month of tuition fee.
 
 
CASH DISCOUNT
 
           A cash discount of 10% of the tuition is given for those who pay in full the whole year’s charges upon registration. Cash discount is applied only to tuition.
 
 
TUITION DISCOUNT
 
           Tuition discount are given to parents who have more than one student of the same family as follows:
10%     - for cash payment of the whole year’s tuition fee within the month of June
10%     - 3rd child of the same family
50%     - 4th child of the same family
100%   - 5th child of the same family
 
           The above discounts are given only when payments are made up-to-date. These will be given at the last installment and these are forfeited when payments are delayed.
 
 
REFUNDS AND REBATES
 
           A student who withdraws his/her enrolment within two weeks after the first day of regular classes is entitled to a refund of his/her entrance and miscellaneous fees of 50%. He/She is entitled to a 25% within the 3rd and 4th weeks. No refund of entrance fees is made after the fourth week of classes. If the student leaves school after one month of schooling, he/she is required to pay the whole year’s tuition fees.
 
 
STUDENT HOUSING
 
           The school has a limited housing accommodation, therefore it can only accommodate students on a first come, first served basis. Students who are admitted to the Boys/Girls Dormitory are expected to follow the dormitory rules and regulations.
 
 
CLASS ATTENDANCE
 
           Students are expected to attend all scheduled classes. Work covered during excused absence of students may be made up. When students fails to take scheduled exams, a fee of Php 50.00 is charged per subject for special tests, unless the absences are excusable.
           A student, who incurs ten (10) absences in a subject, is automatically dropped from that subject. He/She can be readmitted however, upon proper arrangement with the Registrar’s Office and re-enrollment fee of Php 600.00.
           A student’s total number of absences for the entire year should not exceed 20% of the total instruction hours. More than this number, he/she is given a grade of FA (Failure due to Absences) and has no more chance for re-enrollment or promotion. Three tardiness are considered one absence.
 
 
GRADING SYSTEM
 
          The formula to compute the performance of every student is Grade = Raw Score/Possible Highest Score x 100. The final rating is based on the Averaging Grading System.
